With a change in attitudes towards sustainability, limes are increasingly being used in modern construction. The material's ability to breathe makes its use attractive on modern buildings designed to allow air to permeate. A natural material, lime also uses less carbon in its manufacture than cement. The use of lime can be combined with other natural materials such as hemps and natural wools for insulation and heraklith boards or timber laths to produce sustainable buildings built from renewable resources. Traditional time honoured building techniques are complimenting new modern building requirements.
